Dorothy’s Circle: Legacy Giving
Our beloved Dorothy was a kind and gentle soul, who was adored by her fellow chimpanzees and dedicated caregivers. She was one of the first orphans to be saved by Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue. Dorothy’s story will always be an inspiration and she will forever remain in our hearts. We honor her memory through Dorothy’s Circle, recognizing thoughtful and generous donors who plan gifts as part of your estate. Whether you choose the simplicity of naming Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue as a beneficiary of your retirement accounts or include us in your will, you will help ensure a lifetime of care for rescued chimpanzees and help secure a future for the free-living great apes we are determined to protect.
Your gift will support the work of Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue (SYCR) by providing sanctuary for chimpanzee orphans in Cameroon, protecting natural forest habitat, fighting wildlife trafficking, and educating local communities.
Retirement Plans
One of the easiest ways to make a difference for endangered great apes is to name SYCR as a beneficiary of your retirement accounts. By doing so, your heirs avoid paying income tax on the distribution and receive a tax deduction for the charitable contribution. The funds received by SYCR are exempt from probate and are not subject to federal estate tax.
Estate Gifts
Including SYCR in your will or trust ensures a legacy of compassion and support for rescued chimpanzees as well as those still living free and in need of protection. You can leave SYCR all or part of your estate, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after bequests you leave to loved ones. Charitable bequests are exempt from federal estate tax so the full amount you pledged will support the crucial work of SYCR.
Dedicated to the beauty and hope Dorothy embodied, including Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue as part of your legacy will ensure our critical chimpanzee rescue, care, and protection work continues. Together we can secure a compassionate future in her honor.
“By including Sanaga-Yong in my estate plan, I’m helping to secure a future for the organization, ensuring it will continue to rescue and care for orphaned chimpanzees and defend their habitat far into the future. I can be sure that my money will support a cause I care deeply about when I don’t need it anymore. It only took a few minutes to add a couple sentences about Sanaga-Yong in my will.” – Gregg Tully
