Jimi
Jimi
Est. Birth July 2001
Jimi was rescued and brought to Sanaga-Yong in July 2005. For several years, she was kept as a “pet” by a military policeman and endured severe physical abuse which resulted in a shoulder injury that left her disabled.
For a couple of years Jimi lived with a group of younger babies, but when she started to seem bored with them she was integrated with two adults, Amigo and Tati, and a younger chimpanzee, Kachka, who was close to Jimi’s same age.
Today, Jimi is a small adult, who fits well into the small social group that has been expanded to six. Though her left arm is much shorter than her right, she still climbs trees in their two-acre enclosure.
